About our Church

We have a variety of services and many organisations here. You may be interested in some of them.

For further information on any activity please see the phone list on the back of the Parish Magazine, or contact the Vicar

Squirrels

A short, informal, fun time for all preschool children (however young), together with their parents and carers.

This takes place in St Paul's Church on the second Wednesday of each month, during term time, from 2.15pm.

Our time together includes a bible story, a craft activity and the Squirrels song & prayer. We end with a musical procession and drinks and biscuits.

Junior Church

Junior Church is held on the first and third Sunday of each month (during term time) starting in St Paul's School hall at 9.45 am.

Through stories, activities and prayer our aim is to help the children get to know Jesus. Also, so that we can all share in what they have been learning, they join the main congregation for the last part of the church service.

Children should therefore be collected from church at about 11.15am. All children aged 4 - 9 years are welcome.

Choir

Boys and girls over the age of 7, as well as adults are always very welcome to join the existing choir members. They meet on Tuesdays to practice from 7.30 to 8.30pm in the church. No auditions required - only the ability to read fluently.

Bellringers

St. Paul's has 6 bells that are rung regularly for Sunday services. This peculiarly English art is suitable for all over the age of 11 (no upper limit!) and new recruits are always being sought, whether with experience or none, as full training is given.

Wednesday is practice night (7.30 pm) but a full programme of events is enjoyed by this lively band of ringers. [More]

Mothers' Union

For Mothers, Fathers and others who support the aims and purpose of the Mothers' Union . which is to be concerned with all that strengthens and preserves marriage and Christian family life. Meeting twice monthly to support each other and to explore ways to fulfil the purpose, there is a mixture of speakers, discussions and social and parish activities. [More]

Wives Fellowship

The Wives Fellowship, for all ages and singles as well as wives, meets twice monthly for discussions and coffee mornings as well as to hear speakers on a variety of topics.

Their aim is to share in fellowship and friendship.

Church Cleaning, Churchyard Upkeep and Floral Arrangements

Groups of volunteers share this work to care for the church and it's surroundings. New volunteers are always welcome.

From the Church Wardens

St Paul's is your local Parish Church. The building is a reminder of the grandeur and love of God, as it represents his presence in our midst and points confidently up to the heavens. As such it stands as a memorial to the vision and skill of earlier generations .

It is not a museum, though. Our church building continues to be the "home" for a living, thriving and active Christian community. Here prayers and praise are offered daily; God's word is read and shared, and the sacraments are celebrated.

The church is a place where Christians meet together to worship God, giving thanks for The Father's love and for the gift of his Son, Jesus. Each day the Christian community of St Paul's prays for the life and well-being of the local parish and community, together with the needs of the world.

We are always pleased to welcome newcomers of all ages, and value your company as we share together the good news about God's love for his world and our faith in Jesus Christ. Why not come and join us, on a Sunday or during the week! We look forward to seeing you soon.

Parish Prayer:

Almighty God, you have made us members of Christ and of his Church in this parish. May we as a congregation reach upwards to your throne in worship and adoration; inwards to one another in understanding and fellowship; and outwards to the world in evangelism and social compassion.

Make us like a city set on a hill whose light cannot be hidden, so that men and women may find Christ as the light of the world, and his church as the family of the redeemed, and eternal life as the gift of God, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen
